Cheong-san Chicken is a restaurant owned and opened up by Lee Cheong-san's parents.

History[]

Pre-Apocalypse[]

It is first seen in episode one where Cheong-san, Nam On-jo, Han Gyeong-su and Yoon i-sak had dinner there where Mrs. Lee asked how the chicken was and On-jo replied it tasted salty, despite supposed to be spicy. Mrs. Lee previously stated that the restaurant was named before he was born, and Cheong-san is extremely embarrassed that she's using not only his name but his face for advertising. On the day of the outbreak Mr. Lee left to submit some documents to make the restaurant an official restaurant, while Mrs. Lee stayed until she watched the report of the outbreak and left for Hyosan high school.

Post-Apocalypse[]

During the outbreak it can be assumed it was abandoned due to evacuation orders and the panic caused by the outbreak. At night while the virus rampaged through the streets, Park Hee-su (who was bitten) fled and hid in the restaurant with her baby, she laid the baby on one of the seats and tried to catch her breath before realizing she would become a zombie; in her final moments she used ribbons from nearby gifts (assumed to be from friends of the Lees congratulating them on the restaurant) and tied herself to the door before succumbing to the virus.

Later when Song Jae-ik and Jeon Ho-chul were running through the streets, they entered and hid in the restaurant but were startled by a zombified Hee-su before realizing she was tied up. They also found her baby and Jae-ik immediately began to tend to it, deciding to take the baby with them (despite Ho-chul's protests). Ho-chul decided to stay in the restaurant fearing the zombies and when Jae-ik threatened to report him for deserting him, Ho-chul figured given the circumstances his action would be understandable. Jae-ik threatened to break the windows on his way out, scaring Ho-chul into following him, there they attempted to use a nearby abandoned motorcycle before finding Se-bin who was fleeing from the zombies. The four would again take refuge inside, wrapping their arms to protect them from zombie bites before setting out in the motorcycle.

Later while the zombies were being lured by the drones, Hee-su would break loose from her ties and follow the rest of the zombies to one of the bombing spots (presumably Hyosan intersection).

When the soldiers were patrolling Hyosan after the outbreak to kill any surviving zombies, it's shown that the restaurant wasn't affected by the bombing. The soldiers put up a green sticker on the door signaling that the area was free of zombies.

Trivia[]

  • In Episode 7, While Cheong-san complained about the restaurant's name, it was given other ideas such as Cheong-san Auto, Cheong-san Group and Cheong-san Air.
  • The door that Hee-su entered through is shown to open both ways, but when she walked in she didn't lock the door, and the door doesn't automatically lock as it has a lock on it, meaning the zombie chasing her could've gotten in.
  • Cheong-san Chicken's number is 048-766-5670.[1]
  • Cheong-san Chicken was filmed in 118-1 Myeongnyun 3(sam)ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea at Thunder Chicken Seoul.
