Choi Nam-ra (Korean: 최남라) is the female deuteragonist of the first season of the South Korean Netflix Drama All of Us Are Dead. She is considered the top student of Hyosan High School, and subsequently became the class president due to the influence of her rich family. She also shares a mutual romance with Lee Su-hyeok.
She is portrayed by Cho Yi-hyun and voiced by Grace Song in the English dub, Cinthya Chong in the Spanish dub, and Ayaka Asai in the Japanese dub.
History[]
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Nam-ra's mother donated a large sum of money to the school; in return, the Principal made her class president. Nobody considered her class president due to this as some students could be heard making fun of her due to her silence. She usually just studied by herself and was aware of the others not considering her class president, as seen when Lee Su-hyeok talked to her and remarked how she was class president when he suggested they visit Kim Hyeon-ju at the hospital before Nam-ra replied that she was aware of no one in their class considered her class president as they knew how she got the title, so she couldn't be bothered to take her title seriously.
Post-Apocalypse[]
When the outbreak started she was walking while reading a book; due to her wearing wireless earbuds and listening to music, she was oblivious of the panic happening around her until Su-hyeok ran up to her and grabbed her, and the pair fled from oncoming zombies. Later while fleeing through the school they both used a ladder to climb up to the window of a classroom on the second floor of the school, where Nam On-jo and the other surviving students were hiding, noticed them and helped them inside.
Later after Kang Jin-gu zombified and infected Kim Min-ji, she and the others fled out to the halls where they were able to reach the science lab upstairs. There they barricaded the doors but Su-hyeok had gotten separated from the group and hid in the art room. Not long after hiding in the science room the group realized their barricade would fail eventually so they used a fire hose to climb down into the broadcasting room where their English teacher Park Sun-hwa was hiding. Before Nam-ra left, she left a note for Su-hyeok in case he came to the science room. Later he would make it to the broadcasting room after using the windows to head to their location.
She would later witness and expose Lee Na-yeon for infecting Han Gyeong-su.
When the group used the intercom to distract the zombies, they ran towards the music room where Su-hyeok stayed behind to defend them from zombies. At the stairway he was left behind but Nam-ra noticed this and went back for him where she saw him being attacked by Yoon Gwi-nam. She tried to push Gwi-nam away from Su-hyeok but he attacked her and bit her wrist. Su-hyeok was angered after seeing her hurt, and pushed Gwi-nam out of a nearby window, and later she and Su-hyeok would run back together towards the music room.
While the group was in the music room they noticed the wound on her wrist. Su-hyeok said Gwi-nam bit her, but Lee Cheong-san said he saw Gwi-nam being bit by zombies, causing the group fear that she would become a zombie. Later she began mutating into a zombie and had the urge to bite Su-hyeok but resisted; it's shown that she became a halfbie. Some of the students, fearing for their lives, wanted Nam-ra to leave the room but Su-hyeok refused for her to leave, rather he tied himself and her together so that if she were to turn she would only attack him. While the group was in the music room, some discussed her state, Yang Dae-su would bring up the name halfbie referring to being infected but still having intelligence to make rational decisions and choices.
When the group were attacked by Gwi-nam in the stairs, she went to the hybrid state and used it to defend the group from Gwi-nam, throwing him down the stairs. Later while the group were on the rooftop Nam-ra hoped that one day when the outbreak is over they would be able to sit together around a bonfire like they were doing, calling the group her friends. Later when Gwi-nam attacked the group on the rooftop, after noticing that she was also a halfbie tried convincing her to turn on the group but she refused and later threw him off the roof.
During the thunderstorm she was the only girl who didn't cry after the rescue team abandoned the group earlier, due to her adiction to loud sounds while Su-hyeok took care of her. She even alerted the group about the danger in the gym and also about the bombing of Hyosan high.
Later she returned with On-jo to the ruins of the construction site in hopes of finding Cheong-san; after stating she couldn't smell anything alive, she comforted On-jo when she accepted the (unconfirmed) death of Cheong-san. Later while the group made their way through the woods, she suspected the main reason the military bombed the school despite knowing there were survivors there was because of her being a halfbie.
After the group made their way into a nearby town, she sensed zombies and urged the group to run but they stayed due to Dae-su's injured leg. She kills several zombies during the fight, later when Jang Wu-jin became a zombie she killed him in front of everyone but was scolded by Park Mi-jin for not apologizing to Jang Ha-ri for killing her brother in front of her.
Later while the group were making their way to the military checkpoint, Nam-ra started having more uncontrollable urges to eat her friends. Realizing the danger she posed, she ran away from the group. However Su-hyeok and On-jo noticed her absence and ran back to look for her where they found her eating a dead body. After calling for her, she screamed at them to stay away before lunging at On-jo, but she was able to control herself and ran away from them.
Nam-ra had a personalized message written on the Memorial Tree. It's translated as "Nam-ra, come back". Months later she would light a fire on the schools rooftop hoping for her friends to see it and during this time she may have meet other surviving halfbies in the city, she would eventually reunite with her friends, after they went towards her fire on the roof, she would have a conversation with them and explain her situation before leaving after hearing presumably other halfbies calling for her.
Physical Appearance[]
Nam-ra has a pale complexion and long shiny pitch black hair. Several characters consider her attractive and Su-hyeok tells her he considers her very beautiful. She wears the standard Hyosan high school female uniform with medium length stockings with three black stripes around the cuff, and a pair of white sneakers during the whole show. In the flashback of Episode 1, she was seen wearing the Hyosan High School female summer uniform. After reaching the science room she removed the bow. After becoming a halfbie her left eye is shown to be affected by the virus and would turn red whenever she experienced extreme emotions, which she would hide with a bandage. When reuniting with the others on the roof, she wears a light-coloured zip up hoodie with rainbow stripes on the sleeves.
Personality and Traits[]
Despite being attractive, the class president, and Hyosan High School's best student, Nam-ra was an emotionally-withdrawn outcast shunned by her peers, who perceived her introverted demeanor as elitism and snootiness. In reality, she was a lonely girl forced to keep her distance from others, given how her overbearing wealthy mother influenced every aspect of her life, causing the students to stigmatize Nam-ra as a princess being groomed for success - especially when her mother's large donation to the school unfairly influenced her election to class president. The zombie outbreak finally caused Nam-ra to come out of her shell; spending time with her fellow students (outside of her books and the music through her ear buds) created the first emotional attachments she ever had in her life - including her understated romance with Lee Su-hyeok. Becoming infected with the zombie virus, and her immunity mutating her into a zombie-human hybrid would test these bonds to the brink: for as her unique powers grew along with her desire to protect her newfound friends, so did the horrific monster growing inside of her, wanting to devour them all.

- Nam-ra's halfbie infection started on October 21, 2021. Same day as Yoon Gwi-nam, Min Eun-ji and possibly Lee Byeong-chan.
- Both Lomon and Cho Yi-hyun starred in another Korean TV series called Sweet Revenge.
- In the webtoon Nam-ra's personality is the opposite, being a socially outgoing student before the outbreak as she is seen commenting on the situation with the others rather than being silent and keeping her thoughts to herself.
- In the webtoon she gets infected by a drop of blood landing in her eye, however she's immune to the Jonas virus and at the end of the webtoon gets taken by the CDCP for observation before being allowed to continue her normal life.
- Gwi-Nam is not responsible for her infection in the webtoon, and she was not bitten on her left arm, but scratched by a zombie above her right eyebrow.
- It was her who sprayed a fire extinguisher to cover her and Su-hyeok when they went out to get supplies for the rest of the survivors, instead of On-jo in Episode 2 of the Netflix series, who sprayed it to save Cheong-san from a zombie.
- Rather than abandoning the group in a nearby abandoned town, she abandoned the group in the mountains after losing her senses and nearly attacking the group, she survived for eight months in the abandoned Hyosan along with a little girl whom was the only survivor of a group of orphans from a orphanage who attempted to flee Hyosan before the gas bombs went off, after soldiers killed everyone in the group when they attempted to exit the city.

- Nam-ra is one of fifth characters confirmed to be smokers. The others being Kim Hyeon-ju, Son Myeong-hwan,Park Mi-jin and NIS Agent.
- Of the five, Nam-ra is the only one never seen smoking.
- Nam-ra is the only known halfbie that is confirmed to be alive since Gwi-nam's body isn't clearly seen in the pit and Min Eun-ji isn't seen in the room containing her.
- Ironically, Cho Yi-hyun is very upbeat and energetic in real life.
