Synopsis[]
Martial law is imposed on the city. When Cheong-san is separated from the rest of the group, On-jo leads a mission to use a drone to locate him.
Plot[]
Jang Ha-ri's Group leave the toilets and fight their way through the school corridors to Class 2-5, trying to find Jang Ha-ri's brother Jang Wu-jin. They find the classroom full of zombies, but Ha-ri is unable to identify any of them as her brother.
In the broadcasting room, Choi Nam-ra says that they are unlikely to be rescued, as they are only students. Meanwhile, assemblywoman Park Eun-hee and her group are picked up by an army helicopter and taken to the quarantine camp.
As the helicopter lifts off, a news anchor announces that martial law has been declared in the city in response to the epidemic and the Korean economy has gone into freefall. Protesters have begun to block the roads into other cities, trying to keep Hyosan refugees out and even attacking them in the belief that they are infected. Religious groups and social media stars have begun to capitalize on the panic around the zombie virus, and chaos is spreading through the country as fake news amplifies the sense of panic.
Lee Su-hyeok returns to the broadcasting room alone and apologizes to Nam On-jo for coming back alone. It is revealed that the knife thrown by Yoon Gwi-nam only glanced off Lee Cheong-san, and he is able to escape into the library. He tries to climb onto the bookshelves to escape the zombies, but a paranoid Jang Do-min throws him to the floor. Do-min tries to do the same thing to Gwi-nam, but Gwi-nam moves quicker and throws him to the zombies instead. Cheong-san climbs back onto the bookshelves and the two boys fight over the phone. Gwi-nam tries to strangle Cheong-san, but Cheong-san gouges his eye out with the phone and throws him to the horde. Gwi-nam begs Cheong-san for help, then swears revenge as the zombies devour him. The horde then starts trying to knock down the bookshelves and Cheong-san escapes into a maintenance shaft with the phone, not realizing that Ha-ri is nearby and has shot the zombies which were chasing him who arrive at the library to search for survivors but only find the aftermath of the fight.
Ha-ri's groups fight their way through the school before reaching Class 2-5 only to see it overrun by zombies; Ha-ri confirms that her brother isn't among the zombies, they reach the nurse's office and find it empty. They try to use the office computer and phone to call for help, and Cheong-san does the same with his stolen phone in the maintenance shaft. At this moment, however, military commander Jin Seon-mu announces that the army has disabled all communication networks in Hyosan, and that they are starting to send out rescue parties. He tells Hyosan residents to stay put and wait to be rescued.
Song Jae-ik and Jeon Ho-chul barricade themselves inside Cheong-san Chicken to escape a horde of zombies. Inside they find the zombified Park Hee-su and her baby, which has not been attacked but is severely dehydrated. Jae-ik decides to take the baby with them, and tells Ho-chul to find milk in the kitchen to feed it.
Oh Joon-yeong and On-jo break into the science lab to retrieve a drone that the Science Club had been building before the outbreak. Back in the broadcasting room, they get the drone flying again and set up a small screen for the students to watch the camera footage.
Jang Wu-jin spots several zombies that have been pierced by arrows, and tells the group his sister was meant to return from her archery competition the day before. They do not see Ha-ri or her group, as by the time the drone reaches the nurse's office, the group has already left. The drone also finds Cheong-san, who has escaped the maintenance tunnel and made it safely to the music classroom.
The drone then moves over the school field towards the outside world. Kim Ji-min sees her parents' truck outside the school, and when Joon-yeong flies the drone closer, they see that both her parents are now zombies. The whole group is horrified and Ji-min breaks down in tears. Joon-yeong is distracted from the drone piloting, and lets it drop down enough that the zombies outside catch and destroy it.
So-ju, Eun-hee and their group land in the quarantine zone, an abandoned former prison. They are ushered in ahead of the main queue to enter and are placed into mandatory quarantine. When Eun-hee's aide protests their treatment, the soldier tells him that their group is in relative luxury, since they have a whole room to themselves, with beds - most people have been packed into cells and left to sit on the floor to await testing.
In the library, Gwi-nam reanimates and realizes that the zombies are no longer trying to eat him. Footage from Byeong-chan's research notes that the virus has the potential to gain human consciousness and become a new form of humankind as Gwi-nam examines his injuries and realizes that he is now a halfbie, a zombie with human consciousness. He leaves the library and picks up a new jacket, declaring that he is now god.

Trivia[]
- The scene of the drones flight, at one point a body of a girl who hanged herself out the window is seen, this may be a reference to the webtoon on how Gwi-nams first victim hung herself in the same way.
- In the webtoon, there is never a fight between Cheong-san and Gwi-nam, as well as there is never a library scene.
- When Ha-ri goes to Class 2-5, despite it last being seen with only a zombified Kang Jin-gu and zombified Kim Min-ji trapped inside, somehow more zombies have entered.
