Hyosan School Group is the unofficial name given to a group of surviving Hyosan High School students. The group was formed after the apocalypse forced them together into one of the classrooms. From there, the group moved on with the intention of escaping from the school.
After finding out about the hybrids, the group went on to confront Yoon Gwi-nam, who had pursued them all over the school with the intention of killing Lee Cheong-san. During their escape from the school, the group had their last encounter with Gwi-nam before Hyosan was bombed.
Soon after the escape, the group reached the quarantine zone and disbanded, having completed their main objective.

Pre-Apocalypse[]
Prior to the outbreak, all of the survivors were students who were in the same English class except for Park Sun-hwa, who was the students' English teacher.
Post-Apocalypse[]
The group first formed after several survivors hid in the same classroom during the zombie outbreak, after they were forced to abandon the safety of their classroom due to Kang Jin-gu forcing his way in despite being bitten and turning, infecting Kim Min-ji after doing so; they would flee towards the science lab and from there they would use a fire hose to climb down to the broadcasting room and meet Ms Park but not before losing I-sak after she was bitten in the hallway.
In the broadcasting room, after the group fought off a zombie that got stuck in the fire hose, Na-yeon accused Gyeong-su of being infected due to a scratch he sustained during the fight; though the group ultimately agreed to quarantine him for everyone's safety, he would be infected by Na-yeon after she secretly rubbed infected blood on his wound, causing him to turn and be thrown out the window. Nam-ra would figure out Na-yeon's involvement in his death and expose her, causing her to leave the room after the entire group turned against her, though Ms. Park would chase after her in a attempt to save her life which ultimately resulted in her being bitten.
Later after Lee Cheong-san got separated from Lee Su-hyeok, the group would use one of the science drones in order to look for him in the zombie infested school, they would successfully locate him hiding in the music room, and would allo locate Kim Ji-min's infected parents to her dismay. Later the group would make a plan to head to the music room before heading towards the roof as helicopters kept flying overhead, and being on the roof could give them a higher chance of being spotted and rescued. Using the schools broadcast system to lure zombies away and clear a path for them, the plan would be successful, but Su-hyeok and Choi Nam-ra would both be attacked by Yoon Gwi-nam, leading to Nam-ra being infected and becoming a halfbie; as the group reached the music room, their distraction would end and the zombies quickly chased them into the room before they had a chance to run towards the stairs leading to the rooftop.
Later they would pull a daring escape by building a barricade in the middle of the music room and lure all the zombies on the second floor in, clearing entire hallways of the school and allowing them to safely run towards the stairway. However the doors to the rooftop where locked by Kim Cheol-soo, and a helicopter approached the school and rescued the boy, who lied and said he was the only survivor; by the time a fire caused by Min Eun-ji tripped the fire alarm and automatically unlocked the doors, the helicopter flew away, leaving the group stranded.
They stayed on the rooftop till night discussing their lives around a bonfire until Gwi-nam attacked them after climbing to the roof; fortunately Nam-ra used her halfbie abilities to fight him off and push him off the roof. Not long later a helicopter sent by the military to retrieve Lee Byeong-chan's laptop would spot them; despite initially going to rescue them after the laptop was retrieved, the plan was canceled after Eun-ji bit Cheol-soo in the quarantine camp, causing the military commander Jin Seon-mu to order for the students to be executed as potential halfbies. The soldier who was given the order instead fired into the sky, and the group was left behind, much to their dismay.
Later, when it started raining, the group hatched a plan to escape the school by using the rain and thunder as cover. They snuck out of the school and later encountered another group of survivors.
The group disbanded after reaching the military checkpoint, though the remaining members later returned to the ruins of the school after the bombing. Eight members were confirmed to have survived but only six made it to the camp, with Nam-ra running off and Cheong-san’s status being left unknown alongside Gwi-nam’s after their final fight, and Jang Wu-jin got bit and turned, until Nam-ra put him down.

Trivia[]
- Out of the initial twelve students who were in the group, only six (not counting Cheong-san due to unknown fate) didn’t make it out of the school while only four would reach safety as Nam-ra abandoned the group due to her knowing she was a danger to her friends and Jang Wu-jin sacrificing himself to save his sister.
- In the original webtoon, On-jo, Su-hyeok and Nam-ra are the only survivors of the group, while in the series Dae-su and Hyo-ryung also survive.
- In the webtoon, the group had access to a radio in the broadcasting room, allowing them to hear government broadcasts.
- In the webtoon, On-jo and Cheong-san would briefly get separated from the group during their fight to the school rooftops, only On-jo would reunite with the group.
- In the webtoon it wasn't this group who were the first ones to have the idea of using the rain to flee to the mountains rather it was another group of survivors whom the group spotted and helped from the rooftop.
- Instead of rain, there was a thick fog.
