“ | Don’t calculate how many we’ll kill. Think only about how many we’ll save. | ” |
–Jin Seon-mu |
Jin Seon-mu (Korean: 진선무) was a third antagonist in the first season of the South Korean Netflix series All of Us Are Dead. He was portrayed by Kim Jong-tae. In the English dub, he voiced by Jason Jin, and voiced by Raùl Anaya in the Spanish dub.
History[]
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Not much is known other than Seon-mu was a Major General in the Republic of Korea Army and was married with at least two children.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Seon-mu was put in charge of the situation of Hyosan after martial law was declared and was the one who made decisions on what to do, he was always informed about anything that happened.
In order to prevent the spread of fake news about the virus, Seon-mu disabled all communications and internet services, preventing survivors from calling for help.
Eventually when Song Jae-ik and his survivor group were brought to the quarantine camp, he was informed about Lee Byeong-chan's laptop information, leading him to send a chopper to Hyosan High School.
Seon-mu learned that some infected people are asymptomatic when Min Eun-ji, a halfbie, ate her friend Kim Cheol-soo at the quarantine. He then forced the soldiers to abandon the rescue of the Hyosan School Group, and even ordered a soldier to shoot the kids, which the soldier refused to do.
After the decision to bomb Hyosan, Seon-mu went to his room and recorded a video explaining his actions, then called his wife, not long after the call he committed suicide due to not being able to live with the guilt of the bombing. His wife, not knowing he's dead, texted him back asking when he would come home.
Physical Appearance[]
Seon-mu had short neat black hair. He wore a Standard issue MarPat (marine pattern) camo jacket with camo cargo pants.
Personality[]
“You're a murderer. You should be ashamed of yourself!"
- -Park Eun-hee to Jin Seon-mu after bombing Hyosan
Seon-mu had a well meaning yet cold personality as seen when he was shown prioritizing rescuing survivors, containing the virus in Hyosan and studying the virus. He always thinks with military tactics not moral ethics, which is shown when he orders the death of Hyosan High School students after learning of Eun-ji's true nature. However, the viewers should regard this with the fact that the entire country was going to fall apart if a small happened which leads to the infected getting out of control. He also seems to follow the government's orders at any cost and is extremely loyal to his nation. Although after bombing the city, he felt remorse and regret when he informed Assemblywoman Park about his actions.
