This leafless tree was used as a memorial for the deceased friends and family members of the Hyosan School Group. The tree has several tags tied to its branches and a pile of offerings at the base. It's located outside of the Quarantine Camp on a mountain and only makes a brief appearances in Episode 12.
History[]
Post-Apocalypse[]
At some point after reaching the Quarantine Camp, On-jo snuck out and made a small memorial for her dead friends out of a lone tree. One night, while placing offerings, she spotted a light on the roof of the abandoned High School, which she informs Lee Su-hyeok of the next morning. The next night, despite On-jo's wishes, the remaining students gathered at the tree to place their own offerings after being told about the light by Su-hyeok. Yang Dae-su placed the wrapper of the chocolate bar the group had found in the gym storage room for Oh Joon-yeong, admitting that he couldn't bring himself to throw it away, and vowed to bring a whole box next time.

Trivia[]
- The plush that was on Hyo-ryung's backpack can be seen lying among the mementos at the base of the tree, implying that she took it with her when the group left the roof. It can be assumed the plush was for her deceased best friend, Kim Ji-min.
- Deceased and memorable characters such as Nam So-ju, Han Gyeong-su, Mrs. Lee, Park Sun-hwa and Kim Min-ji are likely written down.
- Some of the messages are translated, which are:
- "I-sak, I miss you."
- "Nam-ra, Come back."
- "Cheong-san, I love you."
- There are at least ten more memorialized messages, but it's unknown what they say as the camera doesn't focus on them.
References[]
- ↑ When the group places snacks at the tree for their lost friends, Ha-ri can be seen placing some as well. It's likely meant for her deceased brother, as aside from Jung Min-jae, she didn't know the others.
