History[]
Pre-Apocalypse[]
At the beginning of the day of the outbreak, Sun-hwa called for the students to hand over their cell phones before starting her lesson; she texted the class group chat to hear if any students hadn't still handed in their phones and called Nam On-jo out for trying to trick her by handing over her phone from last year. She was teaching English when Kim Hyeon-ju entered the class bloody and collapsed into the ground, saying to Sun-hwa that Lee Byeong-chan tried to kill her. Sun-hwa, On-jo, and Lee Su-hyeok rushed her into the infirmary where she was given a sedative by the school nurse, Kim Kyung-mi. Later on, she was transported to the hospital and Sun-hwa handled the situation diligently before she and the other teachers were called onto the principal's office at the outbreak. There she expressed her concerns to the principal and was motivated to rushed onto the broadcasting room for an emergency announcement where she saw the gravity of the situation when she sees a zombie eat one of her coworkers. from there she fled and hid at the broadcasting room where she made the announcement and tried to console any remaining survivors.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Soon after, she and her other students met at the broadcasting room after the students have tried to escape from the science lab using a fire rope. As conflicts arise, which includes the conflict between Lee Na-yeon and her classmates, Sun-hwa tries to handle the situation until Na-yeon kills Han Gyeong-su. After Na-yeon's actions where exposed by Choi Nam-ra, Sun-hwa was left speechless and unable to think of any proper action until Na-yeon walked out the room. Sun-hwa chased after her to try to save her, despite the students insisting on her not to; before she left she gave the remaining students a few words of advice, later on sacrificing her life after fighting a zombie who Na-yeon imagines as Gyeong-su and being bitten by it. She managed to keep Na-yeon safe in the music room.
She tells Na-yeon to reunite with her classmates before stumbling down the hall. Her fate is unknown as her zombified body is never seen during the bombing scene unlike other main characters who turn into zombies. She is seen showing infection signs while zombies do not attack her, implying that she might be a halfbie.
